Insulært bok spenne

10 Nov 2016

Hi, I was out 1 week ago digging on a site where I haven't had that much luck in the past. I know the area has potential so I decided to take the 40 min drive and try it out again. This time I scored! I found this weird but old looking peace of bronze. When I got home I contacted my local archaeologic museum and sent him some pictures. He jumped in his car 8.45pm at night to come over and pick it up so he could start preserving it first thing the next morning. What I have been told this far is that it's an "Insulært bok spenne" (part of a book bracket).  And they think it's from North of England, Scotland or the British islands and about 600-700 ac. They also believe it came to Southwest of Norway by monks 900 ac. after a litter caring by their conservator gold starts showing of.

I look forward to see how it turns out fully conserved :)
