I Owe It All To This E-TRAC

27 Mar 2012

I went to a field that I have visited in the past with some excellent success. Though when I do hit this field, it is always very hit or miss. Good targets are slim but usually very old when I do find them. So on a lunch break last week I tried a new spot in the field. On the edge line of the field were some light woods. In the woods I saw some foundations and oyster shells. I turned on the E-TRAC, noise cancelled and away I went. Three swings in I get a solid 12-41 at 5". I guess my pin pointing was off since I gave the coin a nice hair cut with my digger. But to my surprise I found a 1794 Liberty Cap Half Penny. A key date coin and pretty rare at that. Only 81,000 or so minted and 218 years old at that. I could clearly see the date and the bust on the front. The back is pretty much toasted. My first half penny and only the second year minted. I owe it all to this E-TRAC. What an incredible machine... Sean McMenamin - Delaware, USA
