Minelab

Hunted out isn't in my vocabulary!

07 Nov 2013

Treasure magazine ad from my beginning days with Minelab. I knew after the first day using the "new" Sovereign GT, Minelab was onto something new. Over a 3 day period, I pulled out 10 civil war belt plates (buckles) from a site that had been hunted for 23 years and the ferrous targets were so dense, even a narrow blade shovel would only penetrate the ground 2 inches before being halted by "square nails" and other debris. My hunting partner (who was my first Minelab customer) found 5 plates plus three 1830 Infantry buttons and many other relics. This house site had been used as a hospital after the battle of Murfreesboro (Stone's River).

Tens of thousands of wounded were tended to for many miles surrounding the battle field after that blood bath. Sovereign GT's would remain my go to detector for my searches around the world....never failing me. Now with their latest advanced units, I look forward to even more great finds. Thanks for all the many fine recoveries Minelab, and for your never ending research into new technology! PS: my second photo shows some of the finds I made in another "hunted out site." Minelab's "Iron Mask" technology walked right through the immense iron trash that littered this Union gun battery location.
