High School Class Ring - Lost 40 over years

03 Oct 2017

Was contacted by Mark to see if I would be interested in looking for his high school class ring that he lost 40 years ago on the family farm. Of course I said yes because I love a challenge. Ring was lost during in the process of throwing tires away from a burning outbuilding. There was some argument as to the location of the building, but based on Marks best guess we laid out a grid of string and started searching. A bit into the search I started finding blobs of metal indicating a fire. Based on that we moved the grid out further in the direction that he would have thrown the tires. Any interested piece of metal I would call Mark over to have a look. About two hours into the search I dug a good signal and out popped his ring. I whispered back to my girlfriend that I had just found his ring. She started to get really excited and I told her to hold on for a second. I then yelled over to Mark to come have a look at something pretty cool. He walked over not expecting much but when He noticed the ring he became super excited and couldn't believe his eyes. If you never had the opportunity to find and return lost sentimental items for someone, you should. It is a very rewarding part of this great hobby!
