Find of a lifetime!!!!!!!!!!

26 May 2017

Last week I went out really early. The sea was quite rough as I was in the sea, I found a silver ring and then a few coins. I was been tossed around quite a lot as I was waist deep. I then came across a target that had the ID of a 1-euro coin. I chased it around the hole for a minute or so. At the bottom of my scoop covered in sand was something gold. Having got it in my hand I just stared at it speechless.

I had no idea if it was real or bling. It was glinting away but so big in palm of my hand. Anyhow, getting it home and inspecting it, it was a near mint gold Austrian 4 ducat coin - pure 24 k gold with a holder made of 18k. Coin weight is 14 grams. The frame is another 5 grams. The original coin is from 1915 but they remade (restrike) them again from 1920 to 1936, all with the original 1915 date on. Unbelievable that it should be there in the first place and that the condition was like mint.
