Minelab

Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)

09 May 2014

Our club has a monthly outing, this month we went to an old CCC camp near Cave Creek / Seven Springs, Az. I had not been hunting more than 15 minutes in the camp area and I got the nice reading of 38 with my Minelab X-TERRA 705 and a very clear audio in spite of the highly mineralized soil in Az. I dug down about 3 to 4 inches and saw a coin, after filling the hole I checked out my find. It was an 8 sided token, that read CCC 2857 Good for 1 game of pool. I sent pictures of the token to Peter Spooner, author of Arizona Tokens. He responded saying this token came from a CCC Camp Eagle in Clifton, Az., and that he knew of only 4 to 6 of these tokens to exist. I have many finds with my 705 however I will always remember this one.
