Civil War Find

24 Jul 2011

I don't know if this qualifies as a Success Story but I wanted to share it with you. My son Chris who was home on R&R from Afghanistan went metal detecting at a old civil war site along the Etowah River. My son usede to visit this area when he was small. He was telling me about it and we decided to go over with the grand kids (His Children) for a little detecting. You could tell tis was a civil war site established along the river. While I was detecting I got a strong single about 6-8 inches down. The area we were hunting was along a tree line coverec with leaves and moss and underbrush. As I dug and detected with my pin pointer I recovered a old civil war bullet. I am not sure what type it is. The area where it was dug was well protected by trees and soft digging conditions.
