2 Platinum & 1 Gold Ring Recovered!

07 Aug 2014

Well, got a call yesterday afternoon from one of our local residents who had lost her three wedding rings on Tuesday afternoon. If anyone was down on the beach front in Cape May the past few days they have seen the "Bombs" and crazy surf that have been dropping when the high tide had moved in.

Vivian had stated that she was at the high tide line when she took her rings off to put lotion on at the same time her lunch had been delivered and she left her rings on her lap. From what she said during her lunch or shortly thereafter the approaching high tide was forcing everyone to move their stuff further inland due to the violent waves and higher than normal tide. Forgetting she had left her rings in her lap she had moved two or three times before realizing she didn’t have them on her finger. By then it was too late, and considering the surf she believed they were now part of Davey Jones bounty. I spoke with Viv around 4:40 pm yesterday (right at high tide) and explained that we would have to wait an hour or two for the tide to begin to recede if there was any chance of attempting to find these rings.

The beach where she was at has about a 12ft steep slope at low tide from the high tide line. Got down to the beach around 6pm and met with Vivian. Put in a short 20 minute hunt and was able to recover all 3 rings, which were located right at the top of the high tide line slope. 2 Platinum and 1 White Gold all with diamonds. I honestly got the impression that the owner wasn’t expecting that the rings would actually be found, lol. Recovering lost precious items is my favorite part of this hobby!
